Sara y Jacobo is a folk rock duo from Bogota made up of singer Sara Cartwright and multi-instrumentalist and producer Jacobo Polanía. Starting from the guitar and voice format, the project rescues the nostalgic aesthetics of folk through intimate and deep songs. They have been active since 2021 in the Bogota music scene. In 2022, they were selected as winners of the call «Composition Award: Bogotá creative city», issued by IDARTES (district institute of the arts) in the category of young composers. In February 2023, they released their first record work: Altar. Altar is a personal album. Their songs reflect the conversations, feelings and thoughts that Sara and Jacobo had throughout the year 2022. The lyrics speak of the innocence and complicity of beginning to fall in love, and of the illusion of creating everyday life with another person. It is an album that portrays the aesthetics of folk through vocal arrangements and acoustic guitars. It evokes dreamscapes characteristic of dream pop and shoegaze through electric guitars, deep bass, synths and drums. Altar was composed, recorded and produced by Sara and Jacobo at Gusanito Discos, their studio in the heart of the Chapinero neighborhood in Bogotá, Colombia.
