Brief history of the Circo Teatro Yucateco
On June 17th 1900, the new location of the “Circo Teatro Yucateco” was inaugurated, a famous colossus of shows, which almost seventy years after its disappearance, continues in the imaginary of the Santiago neighborhood. We say “new place” because according to the Guide to the State of Yucatán published by José E. Rosado in the year 1896, by then there was already a place with that mythical name. we quote
El Circo Teatro Yucateco – This is a sufficiently large and extensive building; Its construction is made of wood and it is always leased by bullfighting companies, circuses, etc., being the preferred place for zarzuela companies during the summer seasons. Its capacity is 5000 people. It has 50 boxes and a beautiful gallery. It is managed by Mr. Agustín Vales C»(1)
